Nago Pineapple Park is popular especially in Nago. I went there from Nago city by local bus.
When you get off the bus, you will see a facility with many pineapples across the road. FYI, the facility next to it is the OKINAWA Fruits Land!
Once you enter, you get on to an automated “Pineapple Cart” to enter the world of pineapples. “There are about 2000 kinds of pineapples in the world…” listening to the guide announce while the cart takes you further in. Pineapples on the both sides of the road are just for appreciation only!
It goes through the subtropical forest and then comes out to a hill where a giant pineapple stands. It is a commemorative photo spot and sometimes there is a queue waiting to take a picture!
You can eat and rest at the cafe which sells pineapple sticks and sweets made from pineapples.
Then I took a walk through the greenhouse full of tropical plants, and of course including pineapples.
There are many photo spots with shisa (Ryukyu lion dog) with unique face expressions.
At the Restaurant Palm Tree, you can eat a huge pineapple parfait that measures 37cm.
And then comes the souvenir corner that sells many items, such as wine, vinegar, juice, sweets, soaps and cosmetics that all use pineapple in the product.
You’ll be surprised to know that there are plenty of sampling stalls to try out pineapple products! (There are non-pineapple products too!)
One thing you need to know is that, the pineapple products here use their own pineapples grown in their farm. What’s more, the reason for producing so many kinds of products is because they also use up pineapples peels and cores too. Now you understand how much they love pineapples.
The OKINAWA Fruits Land next to the Nago Pineapple Park is also a theme park of fruits.
In this facility, you can play games, meet living creatures, and learn about various fruits. The content of the game is a secret… You can find out yourself!
OKINAWA Fruits Land also has a great cafe and shopping area.
